Learning Projects are extensions of particular topic of interest that we do based on the child’s interest. Introduction to a topic of interest or themes that we introduce each month are based on the child’s interest. Therefore they are not planned right at the beginning of a school year but are planned before the end of each month. This is because as we work through each month, we take into account the children’s interest and topics of discussion that may have arise from our daily work.
For instance, here we are looking at the topic of animals. As we have noticed how children are often fascinated by animals around them and how this is also one of the first few activity we do in our biology, we decided to put animals as one of our topic of interest.
This activity was being introduced to provide children with an introduction to our theme about animals. Miss Pui Voon is seen here talking to the children about the different kinds of fishes. We looked at 9 different kinds of fish. By doing so, we are also indirectly showing the children that one of each kind of fish also makes up a total of 9.
